FA Euro's Mauritzon Returns For NYRB

BROOKLYN, NY--Coming off their third win of the season vs. Lehigh Valley in Allentown, PA. Johan Mauritzon returns from injury as his FA Euro New York (3-8-0) are back at it in Whippany, NJ as they take on Ben Lundgaard and the U23 club of the New York Red Bulls (10-1-1).

The Lehigh Valley United matchup this past Sunday was originally set for July 1st, but needed to be moved to July 9th, where it was a disadvantage for the United due to the fact that they played a game a full day before in their building versus the Evergreen Hammers where they won 2-1 in regular time. Rumblings of not being happy with the date change, caused tempers to flare on the field and on the sidelines, along with poor officiating. Assistant Coach Marco Balsamo was furious over an offsides call in the 74' minute, where he was kicked off the bench and issued a one game suspension for the teams next game a NYRB U23.

Two matchups, and two back to back losses for the FA Euro club, versus these same exact New York Red Bulls U23 club, has not been too kind to the PDL team. The New York Red Bull's came to Queens on June 3rd and June 11th for two weekend matchups that included two shutouts for their club in a combined 5 goals for against the FA Euro PDL club.

Brian White and Ben Lundgaard, who are ranked in the USL PDL's Top 50 Prospects list, are the teams top two players on their roster. White, leads the way with 13 goals and two helpers on the season in 12 games played. Zach Knudson, a New Jersey native, scored three of the teams five goals in the first game on June 3rd, in the 3-0 victory for the Red Bulls. Lundgaard, has played in all but two matches and has allowed 9 goals on the season, and has a 0.79 GAA this season, and is ranked atop the PDL in that statistic.

Moving to FA Euro, they have won 2 out of their last 5 matchups, after starting off 1-5 on the season. Northeastern goalkeeper Matt Dabrowski started his debut game in Allentown vs. Lehigh Valley on Sunday, where he won his first start in a 2-1 victory. Injury Updates include Nico Anderson and Alexis Santa both being INACTIVE due to undisclosed personal issues. Top defender Johan Mauritzon returns to the lineup after a five game absence with a partially torn hamstring. Finally, Tarek Beckles returns to the lineup after suffering a foot injury vs. Reading United two games ago in Queens.
