Keita Out 4-6 Weeks Due to Knee Injury

Bright sides for the St. John’s Red Storm includes two victories that came against the Bowling Green Falcons, and the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds. Some negatives include the loss of the tallest man, and former South Carolina product, Sedee Keita, due to a knee injury.

The contest against Bowling Green, saw Keita leave in the opening minutes, where he was seen in the corner (away from camera view) attempting to stretch out his lower body. Did not seem to be serious at the time, but the official diagnosis nailed down the bad news directly into the coffin.

Starting against Bowling Green, the Philadelphia native saw a wee four minutes of starting time, which was also his first collegiate start.

New York-Presbyterian Queens’ Dr. Tony Quach, Associate Director of Sports Medicine, performed the arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this morning.

St. John’s will now be forced to go small against Rutgers, and for the foreseeable future. JUCO transfer L.J. Figueroa will most likely be subbed in, along with Marvin Clark II being matched up against the center at the five.

The Johnnies head to Piscataway on Friday to take on former Big East rivals, Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Now a member of the Big Ten Conference, will be playing host to Chris Mullin and company at 7:00pm. The game can be seen on the BTN Network.
