PDL Looks for First Win at Reading

The first trip out to the keystone state for the PDL first team (0-3-0) begins with a matchup versus the Reading United AC (2-0-0) at John Gurski Stadium, on the campus of Wilson High School. The contest is set to begin at 7:00pm.

FA Euro travels west to Reading after coming off of a controversial loss against the Long Island Rough Riders in Brooklyn on Tuesday evening. A stoppage time penalty kick booted in by Matthew Sloan of the opposition sent the PDL club home with no points.

Goalkeeper Oliver Foss Hansen spoke with I-95 Sports Network on Thursday. "We put together a great performance against the Rough Riders. It was very unfortunate we didn't come out with a win, but I as very pleased with our defensive effort in general. If we can continue along those lines and improve our offensive play against Reading, [United AC] I'm sure we'll come out with a win."

Sunatillo Khusanov and Robi Sillah lead the team with a goal and three shots on net this season. St. Francis (NY) Terrier and graduate Leo Folla, along with LIU Post Pioneer graduate Johan Mauritzon, will both be on the same field together for the second time this season as the team's top two defenders for the first team.

Last season versus the Philadelphia Union affiliate, the first team was swept. Beginning at Don Thomas Stadium on Memorial Day Weekend, former goalkeeper Brian McPartland gave up two goals to Mo Conde and Syracuse Orange standout Hugo Delhommelle. The LIU Post keeper did not have much help in front of him as the team surrendered 11 shots. In the team's second matchup at Belson Stadium, a 4-1 rout led by the opposition's Paul Marie and Aaron Molloy to the teams eighth loss of the season. 

Multiple injuries continue to plague FA Euro as Alexis Santa will miss his first game of the season due to a strained groin. Khalid Al-Saud will miss his fourth straight contest due to a lower body injury. Seton Hall's Morten Wenaas will make his long awaited return in lieu of Santa, and will wear his #7. The team signed Quam Salami, who will wear #12 while Nico Anderson continues to nurse a lower-body injury sustained in the New York Red Bulls match up a couple of weeks ago. 

The first team will continue to be without midfielder Robi Sillah, who has one goal on the season, and will be serving game number two of his five game suspension brought on against the Red Bulls a couple of weeks ago.
