Core Duo Returning from Injury. Preview: FA Euro vs. New York Red Bulls U23

BROOKLYN, NY--Long Island University Post Pioneer Forward, Jason Lampkin, is one of the players who the PDL club has truly missed over the last two weeks of the season. The Euro club has been without Lampkin's services for the Reading United AC matchup in Pennsylvania, and the most recent matchup versus the New York Red Bulls U23 squad.

The FA Euro New York club has been shut out the previous four matchups, and have given up eight goals. The team also announced earlier in the week that they released midfielder David Itoafa and Davide Lorenzo back to their respective countries Canada and Italy.

GM Joey Jarzynka replaced the two forwards by signing SUNY Potsdam product Brandon Igiehon, activating defender Momodou Sawaneh of the teams injured reserved list. Sawaneh, 27, has been rehabbing from a recurring knee injury that he suffered in an April pre-season friendly vs. NCAA's Hofstra Pride. "Well, I have to say it was very difficult being out injured for two months and not be able to play; But, I have been feeling great for the last couple of weeks and it feels good to be back again. I have been working hard to get back on to the team. I just want to help the team in any way possible and get the result that we need."

Lampkin told I-95 Sports this morning, "Things just haven't quite gone right for us so far, which is a shame because we had a promising start in our season opener. We needed to keep things snow balling, but unfortunately we're going through a bit of a barren run without much luck going our way. We've played ok and created some good chances, we just need to put a few away so we can really start kicking on. It would only take one really good result to completely change our mindset. We have some great players in the team, we just need to all start clicking and get the confidence up."

In the last match up versus the U23 club of the New York Red Bulls, Fairlawn native and NCAA's Georgetown Hoyas forward Zach Knudson netted a natural hat trick last Saturday versus FA Euro against Brian McPartland. The rest of the Euro club did not contribute any goals, where they extended their goal-less streak to four straight games. They do not have any easy tasks moving forward as they are set to host the U23 club once again in back to back match-ups.

The club will be without their top defender, Johan Mauritzon, who is out for personal reasons. On the injured front, Goalkeeper Conor McElhinney has an undisclosed injury but is listed as "Probable" going into Sunday. Not quite as good of news for Forward Alexis Santa, as he is listed as "OUT" this weekend with a nagging knee injury he aggrevated last weekend versus the Red Bulls.
